Agreement to these terms
By using deckbuildersparks.com you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. They apply to browsing the site and to submitting the contact form.
What this website is for
This site exists to describe the deck work we do, the areas we serve and the conditions that affect building an outdoor structure in Northern Nevada, and to let you get in touch. It is informational and it is a way to start a conversation.
Building code, permits and regulatory information
This point matters more than any other on this page, so it is stated plainly.
Throughout this site we refer to building requirements in this region — permit exemption thresholds, ground snow loads, frost depths, guardrail heights, the circumstances in which engineered plans are required, and which authority reviews work in a given area. That information is included because it is genuinely useful and because a deck built without regard to it is a bad deck.
It is nevertheless general orientation, not a determination about your property. Specifically:
- Jurisdictions revise the codes they adopt, and thresholds and figures change.
- Requirements vary by parcel, by elevation and by the specifics of a project.
- Which authority governs a property is decided by the parcel, not by its mailing address, and several communities in this region straddle a jurisdictional boundary.
- We may simplify for readability where the full rule is longer than a web page can sensibly carry.
Always confirm the current requirements for your specific property with the authority that governs it — the City of Reno, the City of Sparks, Washoe County Building and Safety, Storey County Community Development, or the City of Fernley and Lyon County Building Division, as applicable, and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency for property in the Tahoe Basin. Do not rely on this website as the basis for a building decision.
Estimates, quotes and this website
Nothing on this site is an offer, a quotation or a fixed price. No prices are published here, deliberately, because a meaningful figure depends on the site, the ground, the elevation, access and what you actually want — none of which a web page knows.
Submitting the contact form does not create a contract and does not commit either of us to anything. Any work we carry out is governed by a separate written agreement setting out scope, price and terms for that project. Where anything on this website differs from that agreement, the agreement governs.
Photography on this site
The photographs on this website are licensed stock images used to illustrate the kinds of structures and work described. Unless a photograph is specifically captioned as a project of ours, it should not be taken as a picture of work we have carried out.
We would rather say that plainly than let an unstated implication stand.
Accuracy of content
We have tried to make everything here accurate and to say clearly where something needs confirming. We do not warrant that the site is free of errors or that it is fully up to date at any given moment, and we may change, correct or remove content without notice.
Using the site
Please do not use this website to break the law, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or the server it runs on, to submit false information or another person’s details through the form, to send automated or bulk submissions, or to scrape or copy the site’s content for republication.
Intellectual property
The text, layout, design and structure of this website belong to Deck Builder Sparks, except for licensed stock photography, which remains the property of its respective owners. You are welcome to read, print and share pages for your own use. You may not republish the content as your own.
Links to other sites
Where we refer to building departments, regional agencies or other outside bodies, those organisations are independent of us. We do not control their websites or their content, and referring to them is not an endorsement of anything beyond the specific point being made.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Nevada law, Deck Builder Sparks is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this website or from reliance on information published here. This limitation concerns the website. It does not limit any obligation we owe you under a written agreement for building work, and it does not attempt to exclude any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Privacy
How information submitted through this site is handled is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada. Any dispute relating to this website is subject to the courts of Washoe County, Nevada.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always the one on this page, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
